The OVPDC provides opportunities for its members to train their pointing dogs in a variety of field, obedience and conformation events. The Club conducts informal training sessions throughout the year where members and their guests are welcome.

The Club strives to protect and advance the interest of the pointing breeds by encouraging sportsmanlike conduct at dog shows, field tests, agility and obedience trials.

The OVPDC holds an annual CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) field test each June in the Ottawa Valley as well as a Specialty conformation show with accompanying field test in late August.
